Wreck-it Ralph: A Movie Review

I watched this movie with my mom and siblings yesterday.... and I have no words to describe how amazed I am at the PERSPECTIVE of this movie... but I'll give it a review anyway. :)

If you haven't watched Wreck-it Ralph yet, I suggest you stop reading right now and get yourself to the nearest movie house, STAT! Then again, if you're too lazy to get up from your comfortable position in front of your computer, go ahead and keep reading. But if I spoil the movie for you, you can't say I didn't warn you...

The story is about a game called "Fix-it Felix," told from the point of view of the villain of the game - you've guessed it - Wreck-it Ralph. Like your average bad guy, Ralph just wanted a friend who will accept him and won't treat him badly just because he's the bad guy in a game. He lives on a stump on top of a pile of bricks looking out at a hotel where everyone else stays - the same hotel that he wrecks every time someone plays their game. At the end of the game, Fix-it Felix gets a shiny medal, while Ralph gets thrown off the building and into a puddle of mud.

After the overview of his life, the movie showed the present setting where Ralph was actually telling his story to a "support group" for bad guys of arcade games called "BAD ANON" with the motto: "One game at a time." This scene was epic for me because villains of various games, such as Zangief and M. Bison from Street Fighter and the Dragon from Super Mario (which I failed to recognize until he spit balls of fire xD), were all huddled together and sharing each others' stories inside the Pacman ghost's chamber.

Anyway, that same day was also the 30th Anniversary of the Fix-it Felix game and everyone in his game was celebrating, but Ralph wasn't invited. After an argument with a hotel character named "Gene" that "bad guys don't win gold medals," he decided to leave the game and get one of his own medals since he's not going to get one from his own game.

He put on a costume so that he can enter another game called "Hero's Duty" and earn himself a medal. He got a medal alright, but things didn't go exactly as he planned. Because of a "bug problem" in Hero's Duty, he flew a shuttle and ended up in a racing game called "Sugar Rush" where a glitch called Venelope stole his medal so that she can enter the race and become a regular character. It turns out, Venelope was an actual character in the game but King Candy (who was actually Turbo) reprogrammed the game so Venelope will be a glitch. After a lot of action, Venelope was revealed to be the Princess of the Sugar Rush game, Ralph got his medal, and he resumed his job as the bad guy in his own game, with the people being nice to him.

(I got too lazy to write a detailed summary... sorry.)

Whoever thought of the concept of this movie probably has the widest and most creative imagination. He/She should get a gold medal or a trophy or a statue or something.

Now, everytime I see an arcade game, I always wonder what their story is or how they spend their time when the arcade closes. I played the Dance Revolution today, and I actually imagined the dancing character to shout, "All Clear!!" when the arcade closes.

Also, I have learned a few things from this movie:
> Mentos + Diet Soda = Big Explosion
> Insects are very attracted to light
> the Oreos song in the movie was adapted from Judy Garland's Wizard of Oz
> Laughing Taffy can save your life
> IMAGINATION HAS NO LIMIT

5 out of 5 stars for this movie. Most definitely.
