getting his point across

http://opinion.inquirer.net/34199/obfuscation-is-corruption

I was in college and a member of our university's official student publication, White and Blue, when I first read a column by Conrado de Quiros. Before, the only sections I read in the newspaper were the front page and the entertainment section. Until my editor told me to read a column by Conrado de Quiros and I was hooked.

I started reading the opinion section from there (although there are times when his column is absent). I like how he gets straight to the point. He doesn't beat around the bush or use euphemisms. He knows his opinion and he writes it as it is. And this column (please click link above) just proves all that I've said.

This is the reason why I didn't go to church last Saturday. Seeing the phrase "Contraception is corruption" posted all over the gates of the church made me shake my head in disappointment and walked away. de Quiros was right when he said these priests have no idea what women go through whenever they give birth.

I may not have the whole idea since I've never given birth before... but I have seen mothers risk their lives just to carry the baby in their wombs... I've seen them risk their lives just to bring them alive into this world... and I've seen them risk their lives just to get their children something to eat everyday.

Honestly, I don't wish that kind of life for everyone... and that is what the church is doing right now is forcing that kind of life on them. The country is already heavily populated and sexual activity is rampant especially among the youth. The RH Bill is the government's response to this problem. I just wish people would stop and understand its purpose before doing any move to stop it from being passed.
